KARACHI - Veteran journalist Ashfak Bokhari, a former president of Karachi Press Club passed away on Thursday in Australia because of liver cancer. He was 75.

Dawn reported on Friday that he was being treated in Melbourne for the last two months but showed no signs of recovery.

Bokhari had joined Dawn in 1983 and wrote columns for EBR weekly and worked as assistant editor. He retired in 2003 but remained associated with the paper until 2012.

He also worked for Business Recorder and Pakistan Press International and wrote articles for local and foreign newspapers.

He was to be buried in Melbourne on Friday, Dawn reported.
